In The Loop – 16 May 2014
Adult and Community Learning ‘in the loop’
Issue 16 May 2014
Hello everyone and welcome to ‘in the loop’
Making sure that adult learning in Bristol continues to improve and grow.
Things we’ve done this week:
In this edition we have an exciting new Lottery funded Digital Stories course to tell you about. We also have some great language courses coming up including ‘Get by on holiday… in German and in Spanish’ A French Poetry course and an amazing French Day – La Provence on Friday 13 June which includes an 3 course lunch and wine! Yum!
Digital Stories at Stoke Lodge
As part of a project to mark the centenary of World War 1. The Learning Communities Team secured Lottery funding for a project where adults would explore their experiences of conflict to share with other, particularly children and young people in their families and community.
Learners have been creating ‘Digital Stories’ using pictures, words and videos to share their experiences with others creating a wealth of important, engaging and very emotive stories.
I am delighted to say that we are now able to extend this project to include a Digital Stories course at Stoke Lodge.
Maggie Choyce will be teaching and we are working out details and dates but it should start in June and will be completely free!
So if you have a story to tell from your life, your family or your community why not use IT to bring that story to life for all to see.
So many people have such amazing personal and family stories to tell and these will all be shown together at an event later in the year, for all the learners and their family’s to see. Its all very exciting!
2014/15 Course Information Booklet
All the 2014/15 course information is now with the design team so we hope that very soon we will begin proof reading and double checking the details for the new course guide.
Thank you to all the learners who kindly agreed to be photographed— we now have some lovely new images.
German, Spanish and French Course in Bristol

Bristol 10K Run
On another note, huge congratulations to all the Bristol 10k runners including Stoke Lodge learner Joanna Draper who took part last weekend to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
If you know Joanna and/or want to donate you can click here.
Our very own Jane Taylor was also in the running – all that cycling up the hills to Stoke Lodge and Knowle is obviously paying off!
As always:
