Jonathan Barrass works in the Bristol aerospace industry and has been a passionate supporter of adult and community learning in Bristol for over 10 years. 

He loves learning languages at Stoke Lodge, especially German, Spanish, Italian and French. Jonathan recognises the huge value of learning another language.

“You earn more respect and develop better working relationships with international colleagues”, says Jonathan.  If nothing else, “languages make travelling abroad an easier and more enjoyable experience.”

The Adult Learning Service has helped Jonathan achieve Council of Europe levels B2 (upper intermediate) in Spanish and C1 (advanced) in German. 

In the classrooms and at the tea trolley, Jonathan has had fun meeting other learners from all over Bristol.  Moreover, the learning community at Stoke Lodge has helped him connect to groups across the city such as the German Stammtisch, German Saturday School and Circulo Español.
