Coronavirus Update – 16 March
Dear Learners
I know many of you have lots of questions relating to the corona virus and the services we provide as Bristol Adult Learning.
As you can imagine there are lots of discussions about this within the Employment, Skills and Learning team and across the Council. To ensure we are supporting and responding to national government advice, ensuring risk reduction whilst also maintaining services for people.
We will continue to meet regularly to monitor and respond to the changing situation and advice.
At present Adult Learning Courses and the Stoke Lodge Centre continue to remain open and operating. We are closely following government and council advice and are working to ensure we can respond quickly should advice change.
We have put some additional arrangements into action to reduce risks including:
Increasing the sanitising of classrooms and key touch points with antibacterial materials.
Continuing to encourage all staff and learners to wash their hands regularly with soap and water – this remains the most effective way of reducing the spread of germs. If that is not possible to use sanitising gel where available.
The advice to self-isolate continues to be:
- Stay at home for 7 days if you have a high temperature or a new and persistent cough.
- Stay at home if you have recently returned from effected countries and regions.
- Stay at home if you have been in contact with someone who is confirmed to have coronavirus.

I do understand people are worried and anxious, these are very unusual times.
We will continue to review and monitor this in line with changing advice.
