Cyber security
I understand there have been quite a few reports across the south west of people being targeted with scams including through the Whats App text messaging service. The message is often someone reaching out and explaining they have changed their number but ultimately asking for a transfer of money to their account. Sometime the messages start with hello mum or hello dear, and the sender will try to engage you in a conversation.
It’s easy to be taken in so I wanted to remind everyone that if anyone sends you any messages or contacts you, to be careful not to give out personal information and not to agree any payments without finding another way to check the person’s identity.
If a friend or family member really needs your help, they will understand you wanting to talk to them directly to confirm they are who they say they are.
Gift Vouchers
Staring to think about the challenges of Christmas shopping? Why not consider an Adult Learning gift voucher?
You can get a voucher for any amount and we have E vouchers which we can email you directly, so you don’t even have to pop in to Stoke Lodge.
Better than socks again!
Covid Update
As you will know Covid cases are still fairly high locally and we are now entering the season for our usual colds and flu.
I will be making sure I have a pack of lateral flow tests on hand so that if I am feeling a bit snuffly I can always take a test to reassure myself before coming to work or meeting friends and family.
Lateral flows are really easy to get hold of you can order them free online or collect a pack from many local chemists.
We don’t require you to test before attending courses but regular testing across the population is a useful tool to help to keep everyone safe.
Of course if you think you have Covid please don’t come to class and please let us know if you test positive as soon as possible.
You can order lateral flow tests from the government website here or find a local pharmacy that has supplies here
As always please do take care and stay safe
kindest regards
Jenny
