Halloween
Unusually for us this year Halloween actually falls in term time, we’ll be getting out our decorations and giving our foyer an autumnal feel next week to add a little colour (and a few spooky additions).
This time of year, marks the end of the harvest period and the beginning of the darker winter season. Halloween has its roots in some ancient historical folklore and traditions. It is generally thought of as a time where the spirit world and magic are at their most potent. The sceptic in me doesn’t put much sway in that aspect but I am never one to pass up the opportunity for some decorations and I do believe that traditions like Halloween add a little spice to our lives and provide some entertainment as the darker nights draw in.
Art exhibitions
Those of you who have been in Stoke Lodge over the past few weeks will I am sure have been impressed by the amazing artwork we have had on display courtesy of tutor Laurel Smart and her Space for Creativity learners. It has been an absolute joy to have so much colour and talent on display so a big Thank You to Laurel and her learners for lending us their beautiful work.
We will be having more artwork on display for our extremely talented art students in the coming weeks so keep watching the walls and look out for those pieces marked as for sale – you might find yourselves a truly unique Christmas present.
Work at Stoke Lodge
Those of you on classes this term will probably have noticed (and heard) that we have been having work done to replace our fire alarm system. This work is now almost finished (just a few bits of snagging to fix) and this means we now have a much more up to date system, with lots more detectors and generally means the building and much more importantly everyone who uses the building is much better protected. I’d like to thank all our learners and tutors for their patience whilst the work has taken place.
I hope you all have a lovely half term break and look forward to seeing many of you back with us for the final part of the autumn term.
Kindest regards
Jenny
